ABSTRACT

SUMMARY. After examining the historic and continued experience of homophobia espoused by catechetical doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church, this article invites people who have been deeply wounded by the clergy sexual misconduct scandal to actively use spirituality to reframe their relationship with the Church. The Buddhist notion of crisis, which contains both danger and opportunity, is one of a series of lenses through which this conversation is contextualized.
