ABSTRACT

The Lending group will start their workday by gathering the new requests from other libraries that have come in overnight. Many libraries use OCLC’s Interlibrary loan (ILL) Microenhancer to schedule an automatic overnight download and printing of their new requests. Newer ILL management software products offer automatic call number lookup, saving additional steps in the ILL process. The ILL librarian may choose to attempt to correct the citation error, or he/she may send a message to the requesting library, indicating the need for verification/research on the request. Students generally perform the bulk of retrieval services in ILL departments, though in some departments, staff also participates in the retrieval process. Lending staff may also produce overdue notices or process lost book invoices and may receive requests for RUSH service during the day.
