A Study of Factors Influencing Parental Patronage of Quick Service Restaurants
This chapter reveals the number of role changes for multi-unit managers in the quick service restaurants (QSR) as a result of the segment's growth and expansion during the past ten years. In the new millennium, the quick service restaurant segment will continue to be an important economic force in the United States. Leadership and organization/time management skills are the biggest challenges faced by individuals during their transitions into the multi-unit manager role. While restaurant unit managers are crucial to the success of any individual unit, chain restaurant organizations also use a multi-unit management structure to control and monitor a large number of geographically dispersed restaurants. Companies are focusing on improving the transition process from single to multi-unit by enhancing leadership development and organizational/time management skills. The multi-unit management position enjoys a great deal of status in quick service firms and is considered a career opportunity.
