ABSTRACT
Mixed-method research is the use of multiple methods and sources of data in the study of the same phenomenon. Two kinds of mixed-method strategies exist: within-method and between-method triangulation. This study utilized between-method triangulation by combining both quantitative and qualitative methods. The homeless shelter's facilities were located on Railway Street just south of the main railway tracks and highway that run through the midsized metropolitan area. Two homeless facilities were located on Railway Street: the service provider profiled and the Mission. The Mission was a classic night-time gospel rescue mission serving approximately sixty homeless men. With a rich and colorful history, Railway Street was unique within the metropolitan area. The service provider was a non-profit, nondenominational, tax-exempt organization helping the homeless and low-income people, and had an annual budget of more than $1.5 million. It had more than fifty full-time staff members and recorded more than 50,000 volunteer hours per year.
