ABSTRACT

I was recently at a luncheon at Richmond International Raceway where NASCAR race car driver Jeff Gordon spoke. Someone asked him how in the world, he as a relative newcomer to the Winston Cup circuit, could drive so well in the midst of some thirty other cars at speeds near 190 mph. His answer was very brief: “I focus only on driving my own car.” This, in large part, is the essence of spiritual growth. We must concentrate on our own souls. Even in the midst of hectic schedules, busy days, and others racing all around us, we must stay focused on our own souls.
