ABSTRACT

Loneliness seems to be a curse that men pass on to one another from one generation to the next. Behind the mask of loneliness hides a great deal of sadness. Men have learned so well how to act and behave as if autonomous and independent that they become strangers to theirselves. The issue of personal boundaries in the movement from loneliness to community, is an age-old concern for those involved in spiritual growth. For many men, community with other men and community with God are unnatural, and unknown. They are the opposite of everything men are taught and raised to do and believe. Community, however, is a better way to experience the heights of the Christian experience. Loneliness means isolation from other people, and also isolation from Jesus Christ as personal Savior.
