ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates the difference between stopping at the surface with anger and rage and plummeting the depths of the souls to find the blessings of expression for sadness and hurt. The man God consecrated in his mother’s womb to be a prophet to Israel, Jeremiah, son of Hilkiah, is a wonderful guide for the man seeking to remove his masks of anger and rage. Jeremiah is delivering prophecy to the people about their faithlessness. Rather than strike out with military strength or political acumen, he weeps and mourns for the violations of the covenant between God and Israel. Jeremiah was angry at their sinning and violations of God’s love; he was enraged at their stealing, murder, Baal worship, adultery, and false swearing. Psychologists say that a man’s anger is often rooted in his feelings of inadequacy or fears of castration.
