ABSTRACT
This chapter describes some special methods developed over the years to enhance accuracy and speed up production. The processes are intended to be used with a metal inert gas (MIG) welder, which is an excellent investment for any shop. Some people describe a MIG welding set-up as the hot glue gun of metalworking because of how easy it is to use. This includes at the very least: safety glasses, a helmet, special gloves and clothes, and screens to mask other workers from your welding. Be sure to read, understand, and follow all of the safety instructions that come with your welder. An arc welder is essentially a very large rectifier unit that changes AC power into DC power. Electronically, some machines are constant current while others are constant voltage. A metal cutting band saw warps the blade outward so that it can cut through material that would otherwise be too large for the throat of the tool.
