ABSTRACT

In this chapter would apply to electrical work in any field, but the entertainment business uses some very specialized equipment that differs substantially from what may be used in other industries. A lot of theatre practice is meant to be temporary, given the changeable nature of the business. Power distribution systems may be set up for one show, and changed for another. Portable cables are used to bring power and data to equipment, rather than using traditional hard-wired methods. In a power station generator, the circular movement of a coil of wire inside a magnetic field produces an alternating current that fluctuates from positive to negative in a regular pattern called the sine wave. Troubleshooting is the name given to a methodology for fault finding. In electrical work, troubleshooting most often occurs when something either doesn't work at all, or doesn't work properly.
