ABSTRACT

This study hopes to uncover the perception of women managers that the mass media has constructed and shaped over the years. A similar study was conducted by Lee and Tan (1993b). This study attempts to examine whether there are any changes in the perceptions of women and male managers portrayed by the media. A total number of 172 contributions were selected for analysis. Three specific questions were asked:

Who are the women and male managers portrayed by the mass media?

What are their managerial attributes?

What are the problems they face as managers?
