ABSTRACT

The articles in this collection focus on many of the issues that face today’s academic library director. The authors address the changing nature of work and the new demands placed on library directors. They talk about directors and their credentials and paths to position, including the challenges of being an interim director. They reflect on the perceptions and goals that directors have about their position, as well as collegiate and library culture. Lastly, they talk about the different forces buffeting higher education and their impact on libraries and those who direct them.
