ABSTRACT
Interest in the phenomenon of aging has been evident throughout recorded history and its historiography can be traced from ancient times. Ever since then, the process of aging has been considered and reconsidered while attitudes toward aging and the aged have been expressed in both favorable and unappreciative terms, age being praised and lamented by scholars and poets alike.
