ABSTRACT

Discusses the need for good information in gerontology, the manner in which the Andrus Gerontology Center is contributing to that literature, and the role of the Andrus Gerontological Information Center in accessing, collecting, utilizing, applying and disseminating gerontology's literature. Addresses the shape of the gerontology literature, the way that influences access to the literature, and the indispensable role of online computerized bibliographic databases in facilitating that access. Specific roles, components and services of the Andrus Gerontological Information Center discussed include: the AGEX database, the Dissemination Project/Document Delivery Service, the Research Library, the Computerized Literature Search Service, cross database searching, bibliometric studies, collegial networks, the gerontological information network—GERONET, and future roles of the Andrus Gerontological Information Center.
