ABSTRACT

Research on aging has been carried on in most Canadian universities, community colleges, medical centers and social service organizations for many years. Individuals, or groups, working independently have been scattered across the departmental structure of their institutions and among institutions, in some cases with little or no contact with others in the community who share common interests and concerns. Unlike the United States, Canada does not have any large gerontology centers or institutes with substantial collections, nor does there appear to be any possibility of a major center with a large collection being developed in the near future. Instead, gerontologists must rely on the large academic libraries or small special collections to meet their needs.
