ABSTRACT
The body of this chapter, Sections 2, 3 and 4 presents two quite general correlations between the surface forms (SFs) of natural languages and their logical forms (LFs). Section 1 discusses briefly the nature of SFs and LFs, and Section 5 assesses the significance for linguistic theory of establishing relations between SFs and LFs.
