Effectiveness of a Cancer Education Program for Women Attending Rural Public Health Departments in North Carolina

In general, the available information suggests that increased atten­ tion should be directed to the development of cancer control programs in rural areas, particularly targeted to the lower socioeconomic sub­ groups in the population. Development of successful interventions to increase accessibility to information on cancer prevention, early detec­ tion, and treatment for low-income, low-education individuals at high­ er risk of cancer should be given high priority.
