ABSTRACT

One of the aims of Every Child Matters (DfES 2004) is that schools should ‘build stronger relationships with parents and the wider community’. This enquiry explores two different approaches to home–school communication in four primary schools: two in Cardiff and two in Bristol. This enquiry conceptualises home–school communication as ‘home–school knowledge exchange’. We have included this enquiry because it is a collaborative project involving school staff and outside researchers, and because it presents parents’ perspectives.
