ABSTRACT

When a verb in a main clause expresses a wish, doubt, desire, fear, obligation,

etc. the verb in the subordinate clause takes the subjunctive mood. This situation

include ْنَأ “so that” and the negative particle نَل. These particles must be immediately followed by a verb in the subjunctive. The difference between a

verb in the present indicative and a verb in the subjunctive is a matter of their

endings. A verb that undergoes this change is called بوصنَم لْعِف “subjunctive verb.” A list of verbs that trigger the subjunctive is included in this chapter.
