ABSTRACT

In this and the two following chapters, I articulate the reporting and analysis of my findings about human traffickers in Cambodia around five major themes: who are they, how do they operate, do they make much profit, what are the motivations for their involvement in human trafficking, and what role does the criminal justice system play in the control and repression of human trafficking? I present statistical analyses and illustrate quantitative findings with case studies. 1 However, in this chapter we will only focus on the sociodemographic profiles, organizational structure, and modus operandi of traffickers, and particularly those I have categorized as “real traffickers” (see below).
