ABSTRACT

I would like to conclude the present book with some more personal thoughts about the future of music therapy. I have had the good fortune to work closely with four seminal figures in this profession, two clinicians and two educators. As I move into the latter stages of my own career, I realize that those of us who worked directly with the pioneers in music therapy will also soon be moving on. As each of these four people have left an indelible mark on the way that I think about music therapy, I want to conclude the present book by sharing what I have learned from them as I believe that they all offer essential values for the next generation of music therapists, who will determine what its future will be.
