ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines how play and recreation can be promoted through the use of effective leadership skills. It raises awareness of the need for all people who work within health and care to undertake leadership roles, irrespective of their level or the job role that they perform. The process of leading small-scale projects is explored, together with case studies that show how this has been done in practice. The Healthcare Leadership Framework is discussed and its use as a tool for enhancing service delivery is promoted. Finally, guidance on how to access and use basic statistical information is also presented, which allows some of the needs of the local community to be identified and responded to.
