ABSTRACT

I first suggested the use of school attendance panels at the National Association of Education Welfare Officers’ (NASWE) Annual Conference held at Morecombe in 1984. Since then, their proliferation has increased to the extent that they are now used worldwide, especially throughout such countries as the UK, USA and Australia. In Western Australia, for example, their use is now mandated through the Parental Support and Responsibility Act (2008) (PSR Act).
