SHOP PREP Shop Prep is the time dedicated to preparing and organizing the rental equipment for load-in and hang.
The production electrician and his crew may spend a week or two working in the rental shop organizing the lighting fi xtures into roadcases so that they are organized by position when arriving at the theatre. Other things that may occur during shop prep include: pre-hanging fi xtures in truss, bundling and labeling lengths of cable, cutting and framing colors and gobos, and loading moving lights with custom items. Shop prep is a very important time for the production electrician. A good shop prep ensures a good and effi cient load-in.
