ABSTRACT
The lighting world is an exciting tinderbox of opportunities for assistant-types. As a freelance assistant lighting designer, chances are you may fi nd yourself working in a variety of industries related to theatre, including: television, architectural lighting, museum design, dance, industrials, concerts, cruise ships, award shows, fi lm, and themed entertainment just to name a few. Working outside of theatre in related industries is a great way to network, pay the bills, and grow as a lighting artisan. In this chapter a few of these industries are discussed, in brief.
