ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents an overview of key concepts covered in the preceeding chapters of this book. It focuses on cross-national and cross-cultural patterns of female migration and integration into the Belgian society. Whereas the static gender analysis was conducted by means of quantitative data. Beside this static gender analysis, dynamic gender analysis was conducted by studying the interactions between gender and migration. This was done by examining how gender relations in the region of origin and Belgium lead to migration and vice versa, and how gender relations are changing through migration processes and careers. The first part of this interaction provides explanations for the identified differences in the static gender analysis. The second part indicates the change in gender identities caused by migration. Research was done on how gender transitions at several levels in both the region of origin and destination structure the migration processes of men and women.
