ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a protocol for when a child misses a session and a description of each session. The format is the same for each session such as goals and tasks, tips, additional implementation notes, and a brief description of each session activity. Important reminders for ending grief and trauma intervention (GTI) for children are highlighted such as conducting the post-evaluations, providing progress information to parents and guardians and co-facilitators, and making sure all final business has been addressed. One need to minimize the number of times a child misses a session to ensure that the full grief and trauma intervention is provided to the child. The chapter presents several procedures for the missed sessions. Group meeting can be used to meet with any child who may have missed the last group, to review each group member's progress and future needs, and/or to follow up with any community members who may have helped to organize the group.
