ABSTRACT

The state of public health is influenced by many environmental phenomena, including air, drinking water, food, and soil. It is well known that in recent years, demographic indicators have worsened and morbidity has increased in the Russian Federation. One of the likely reasons for this trend is the environmental distress in many regions, especially in industrial cities. Researchers have estimated that 20 percent of any given population's health is affected by the environment. 1 Evaluating the quality of the habitat and the relationships between environmental components and health are important prerequisites to adopting measures aimed at reducing the risk of contamination in a timely fashion.
