Image and Concept

So, even though I explicitly touch on the evoking of affective images only once in the previous chapter, my general argument about the educational value of imagination implies an extended recommendation to teachers to be more attentive to images, and to the metaphors that they move on. We have given pride of place to the disembedded concept in education, and seem largely to have forgotten what all the most powerful communicative media in our cultural history make plain to us, that the affective image is crucial in communicating meaning and significance.
