ABSTRACT
1922 was the fiftieth anniversary of the Girls’ Public Day School Trust. The plan to celebrate it fittingly was not ready in time but, as the organizing committee remarked enigmatically, ‘so leisurely and movable a festival is difficult to fix in time; it is also difficult to fix in space’.
