ABSTRACT
Mainly late Meccan, but in view of the mention of ‘expending’, or giving money and goods for the cause, in verse 29/6, some of the second half may be early Medinan. The title of the sura is sometimes ‘The Originator’ (Faṭir) from the word in verse 1.
