generation patron of Eihei-ji. He was from the Hatano family. Hatano Yoshishige was the closest lay follower of Dogen throughout his Fukakusa and Echizen periods. He donated a piece of his own land in both of these places to Dogen so that the latter might devote himself to the teaching of the Dharma.
