ABSTRACT

Ivor Brown (1891-1974), one of the most respected critics of the twentieth century, was drama critic for the ‘Manchester Guardian’ (1919-35) and also for the ‘Saturday Review’ (1923-30). He was latterly identified with the ‘Observer’ to which he contributed from 1928 to 1954. He was also its editor from 1942 to 1948. See also Nos 140, 154, 197, 208, 237.
