ABSTRACT
Joseph Wood Krutch (1893-1970) was associated with the ‘Nation’ from 1924. He edited the plays of Congreve and Eugene O'Neill as well as the English translation of Proust's ‘Remembrances of Things Past’. A stern critic, he is remembered for his highly pessimistic view of the future of humanity. See also Nos 162, 168.
