ABSTRACT

Brooks Atkinson (b. 1894) with G.J. Nathan, Joseph Wood 326Krutch and Howard Barnes were the arbiters of theatrical taste on the New York stage for over forty years. Brooks Atkinson was identified with the ‘New York Times’ from 1925 and was almost unremittingly gloomy about the future of Broadway. See also Nos 115-22, 163, 167, 170, 171, 184.
