ABSTRACT

‘W.A.D.’ was W.A. Darlington, the author of ‘Alf's Button’ and drama critic of the ‘Daily Telegraph’ from 1920 to 1968. He was also London theatre correspondent to the ‘New York Times’ from 1939 to 1960 and wrote widely on authors and actors from J.M. Barrie and Sheridan to Gilbert and Sullivan and Laurence Olivier.
