ABSTRACT

The Henley tradition is alive and well at Moondah today. Each of the principals since Professor Sir Douglas Copland – Sir Ragner Garrett, Mr Maurice Brown, Dr Ted Kelsall and myself – has in our way moved to retain that which C-J clearly regarded as best at Henley. Today, while there have been significant changes in course content, length and number of programs and many new initiatives both at home and abroad, the key ‘Henley’ elements of syndicate work, appropriate course-member mix, directing-staff diversity and constant course review are retained. So, too, are such characteristics as the use of speakers direct from the coal-face, visits to enterprises at work, encouragement of competitive sporting activities – and the Buttery.
