‘Race'

This chapter has five aims:

to provide a conceptual overview of ‘race’ and racism in relation to society in general;

to look at ‘race’, racism and legislation;

to analyse data on ethnic background and achievement and performance at school;

to look at the issue of racial harassment;

to draw out some implications for schooling with reference to a number of recent reports.
