ABSTRACT

To ask why we live in 3 + 1 dimensions or what is the actual dimensionality of space-time, may seem like a very unmodest or too “philosophical” a question to be the subject of a serious scientific discourse. Even if this attitude was ever correct in the past, it is surely no longer the case at least within modern theoretical particles physics. At present the situation is that apart of it's epistemological importance, the question of the dimensionality of space-time has an immediate bearing on vital calculation-technical aspects particularly in perturpative solutions to problems in quantum field theory for which Weinberg has recently given a comprehensive and lucid presentation [1].
