ABSTRACT

Aron Iosifovich Kopshtein was a poet, translator, and journalist, who had full command of three languages, in all of which he wrote—Russian, Ukrainian, and Yiddish. 1 He was born on March 5, 1915 in the town of Ochakov in the Kherson region (now Nikolaev region) to an impoverished Jewish family. When Aron was one month old the entire family moved to Kherson. He was one of five children in the family.
