ABSTRACT

Capitalism sees people as self-oriented beings who seek their own interest, who view work as a burden, and whose satisfaction depends on their level of consumption and as beings that can never be satiated. Capitalism's definition of humans is more important than one thinks. If people were defined as being altruistic instead of being self-oriented, the solutions reached by economic science would have been very different. The assumptions the economic theory starts with reflect the values and beliefs of groups in societies. Our capitalist theory today has been trying to prove that people are serving the society as a whole by seeking their own selfish interests. Capitalist theory has adopted this effort as a mission. Capitalism is in search of finding ways to decrease labor costs and may lay off thousands of people to increase its profits. Capitalism is customer oriented. A person who is able to earn income to spend is a prospective customer for capitalism.
