ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the Israel Palestine conflict and the role and interests of the United States in it. It provides some possible options for US foreign policy to pursue in order to further its own security interests. The chapter outlines the history of the conflict and the accompanying peace process. It analyses the role of the United States in the proceedings with on the newest developments, as well as describe US interests in peace in the region. For the sake of simplicity, the author will keep focused special focus on the conflict itself with disregard to the surrounding nations, which do have a role in their own right. This chapter concludes findings and try to sketch out a possible scenario for further action. Settlements are further not seen as an obstacle to peace but a tool to create pressure in order to incite the peace process. Foreign policy principles and national security concerns make democratisation a top priority.
