ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how user-centred design activities, combined with effective methods for identifying and managing client expectations, led to a successful build and launch of a website for an entertainment production company that owns several well-known venues. This two-pronged approach technical method combined with project-oriented methods allowed the team to balance the needs of the business stakeholder and the intended users of the website, while perming to deliver on time and on budget. Many projects fail because of the business owner's unwillingness to believe that the elements are intertwined with the laws of nature and cannot have equal priority. Feature Value Analysis is easy to perform, and best of all it puts the client in the driver's seat by allowing them to pick and choose the right mix of features and functions. It is used to define the scope of a project, the requirements need to be collected and judged relative to all other requirements.
