ABSTRACT

The strictest definition of a sequence demands that it be composed of at least one or more elements, as we have already seen. From this it is perfectly legitimate to think of any or all items within a given sequence as being a sequence in its own right. In such a way the number three can be thought of as being the third prime number in the ordered sequence of all prime numbers starting at zero, for example – one being the second prime, zero the first and so on. Furthermore the number three can independently be thought of as a sequence comprising itself and no other number. This gives it its own identity, making it stand out. On its own the number three carries its own fully contained meaning and definition. It simply ‘is’ the number three, or rather any or all computations that produce it, and so shall it be forever more.
