ABSTRACT
The overall conclusions that are presented in this chapter reflect on all the previous 17 chapters of the book and have been formulated with specific reference to the three issues contained in the subtitle of this book: instruments, individuals and institutions. These three themes were not just chosen for their alliterative qualities: they also neatly reflect the key issues related to transition management and sustainable transport that appear in the previous chapters. The importance of these three issues for sustainable transitions in the transport sector are each considered in turn below. Before turning to these three themes, however, a few general observations are made on the issue of transition management in the context of sustainable transport.
