ABSTRACT

The System Anatomy addresses the problem by effectively containing the master planning and communication documents to a one-page anatomy' which is constructed by key stakeholders. In the process of defining the anatomy, key stakeholders develop a common understanding of the interdependencies involved in these huge global projects. The containment of the key documentation to the single page anatomy allows stakeholders to keep a grasp on the complexity of the project, and therefore the consequences of any changes on the rest of the system. The System Anatomy is a whole-of-project approach. However, the mapping between the decision model and the work model is different as compared to more traditional project models. The decision model and work model proceed in linear fashion where certain documents shall be ready at a certain decision point. The decision model still proceeds linearly while the work model is based on the functional dependencies given by the anatomy and its associated plans.
