ABSTRACT
A critical look into current approaches to the conservation of memnic buildings with a focus on façadism helps understand some of preservation’s inner contradictions.1 Looking into a Renaissance practice of re-clothing a body as an imaginative form of built conservation, might contribute to critically rethink current notions beyond conservation as is, toward unveiling meaningful forms of invention embodying a duality of preservation and design; embracing change, rather than simply denying it.
