ABSTRACT

7th. With the intention of putting to sea on the following day we unmoored in good time, hoisted boats, and at 5.0 p.m., firing a salute, we hoisted the jack on the fore-royal top-gallant mast. The pilot arrived in answer to this signal at 7.0 p.m. from the shore, and slept the night aboard, so that we might weigh at daybreak on the following morning.
