ABSTRACT
The word Mango, according to Crawfurd, is a corruption o f Mangga which, though used by Malays, he says was picked up by our traders at Bantam, on the coast o f Sumatra. {Hist, o f the Indian Archipelago, vol. i. p. 425.) The seafaring Arabs o f Malabar probably borrowed it from the same source.
