What lessons can we learn from the different perspectives covered within this book? The chapters have shown a range of research projects that together look at the complex issue of the skills and competences that make for effective mentoring. It is not designed to be the final word, more an introduction to the arena of mentor competence and an invitation to others to continue the research – both empirical and practical – into the more detailed competence aspects.
