ABSTRACT

One of the consulting activities the author has performed is an OD consultant to Unilevers fast track graduates in the UK. Both Ed Schein, who talked about the sacredness of a human being in his teaching and writing, and Dick Beckhard, who defined the health of an organization in his original definition of OD, were oriented to the ethics and sanity of organisational life. The review book of OD written by Joan Gallos noted that the power of ODs legacy and contributions is in the fields enduring respect for the human side of enterprise. The Guardian role relates more to what they KNOW rather than what they do. If there is a natural thrust to change inside psychological reality it is that interventions should be directed towards the organisation recovering a naturally healthy state not fixing an unhealthy state. Organisations are full of emotional and unconscious charge.
